We founded Republic of Paws in 2010 with a vision to create a fun local hangout where pets and pet owners could meet other pets and pet owners; find healthy, natural foods and nutritional information; access resources, referrals, and support; and become more engaged in advocacy, pet rescue and community events. We consider it an honor and a privilege to watch our vision come to reality through the loyalty and support of amazing customers, pet rescues, and partnering businesses.
Republic of Paws currently operates three retail stores in beautiful, pet-friendly Colorado Springs. Our Stetson Hills and South Academy locations offer compassionate grooming services on-site or for customers in the Old Colorado City locale, our Salon & Day Spa is located just one block west of our retail boutique in Clock Tower Plaza.

About the Owners
Republic of Paws is owned by Jason and Molly Smith, proud parents to two Miniature Schnauzers and two human children, Jackson Cooper, and Evelyn Meadow. As avid pet-lovers and outdoor enthusiasts, Jason and Molly love living and owning a business in pet-friendly Colorado Springs and love the opportunity to support all of the great companies, rescues, and other pet-related businesses that reside here.
Jason and Molly left life in the busy Washington D.C. area in 2008 to move to Colorado Springs and live among other pet and outdoor lovers. They launched republicofpaws.com in 2009 to serve customers nationwide. It was an instant success, but something was missing. They wanted to get involved in the local community, support local rescue organizations, and give other pet parents a fun place to bring their furry kids to shop and socialize. In 2010, they opened a small boutique in downtown Colorado Springs, unfortunately, it was so small that big dog parents found it a little difficult to maneuver. So in 2011, Republic of Paws moved to a beautiful new location in historic Old Colorado City where there is plenty of space for dogs of all sizes and breeds to shop with their parents!
In 2016, Republic of Paws launched Republic of Paws' Salon & Day Spa one block west of the Colorado Springs boutique to offer compassionate grooming services for dogs and cats that would further enhance the quality of life for pets (and their people - who doesn't love clean doggy kisses?!?).
In 2018, Republic of Paws acquired Ruffin' It, another like-minded local independent pet retail outlet. The stores were moved to new facilities in 2019 to expand their grooming capabilities and were rebranded to join the Republic of Paws family. Additional therapeautic services were added including massage and laser therapy.
Jason and Molly head up the day-to-day operations of the retail stores, grooming facilities, and the online store with the help of a team of dedicated store associates, managers, and groomers and love to chat with customers and get doggy snuggles every chance they get!
